Giant Microbes Original Zika Virus

Now you would be forgiven in thinking that this nasty little fellow was a more recent discovery especially with its appearance all over the news in recent years. This is the Giant Microbes Original Zika Virus and he was discovered decades ago and is another one of those African nasties but can also be found in Asia and the Americas. This virus is transmitted the same as malaria via a mosquito bite and was first discovered in 1947.

At the time, there were very few people infected and it was classed as a pretty rare disease until a massive outbreak in Brazil in 2010 when Zika became a more famous and well known little germ. But did you know that currently there are no treatments, preventions or cures for the Zika virus? Making this one of the most fearsome nasties on the planet.
